Funny Lady Will Help Find YOUR Funny

Jane Testar newIf this picture of JANE TESTAR looks familiar and makes you wanna smile , that’s probably because you’ve seen her being funny on stage in one (or both) of Manitoba’s TWO funniest comedy troupes. That’s right TWO –  Jane is a member of both OUTSIDE JOKE and HOT THESPIAN ACTION and she’s teaching the first half of our FINDING FUNNY comedy class which starts this Thursday, October 09 at 7:30pm.

HOT THESPIAN ACTION  performs regularly at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival and Winnipeg Comedy Festival,  around Canada and beyond. They have sold out shows in every province from Ontario Westward. This last year they were invited to be headlining acts at not only the Vancouver Sketch Comedy Festival and the Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival, but also SketchFest Seattle. This year, Hot Thespian Action was nominated for their third Canadian Comedy Award for Best Sketch Comedy Troupe in Canada. HTA is also in the midst of developing a half hour comedy series. Working with production company “Original Pictures” HTA traveled to Toronto in December of 2012 to pitch the concept and pilot script to broadcasters.Talks are still ongoing.

OUTSIDE JOKE is an improvisational theatre company with a flair for telling stories woven with improvised songs. Outside Joke brings a playfulness to the stage you’re sure to fall in love with. Since 2002, they have performed in festivals and theatres across Canada, including Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Montreal. Outside Joke is Andrea del Campo, Chadd Henderson, Toby Hughes, Leif Ingebrigtsen, RobYn Slade, and JANE TESTAR.

JANE TESTAR  is a multidisciplinary comedian, regularly performing both improv (with Outside Joke) and sketch comedy with Winnipeg Fringe Festival favourite, and Canadian Comedy Award nominated sketch troupe, Hot Thespian Action. Jane is also a member of the theatre ensemble Foolish Wit, who perform Commedia Dell’arte and have created and toured two original, bilingual children’s shows for Canadian Parents for French. She has appeared in productions with Prairie Theatre Exchange (Little Munsch on the Prairie) and Théâtre du Grand Cercle (De Bouche à Oreille) and Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday In the Park With George as part of the MTC Master Playwright Festival. Jane can also be heard every week on CBC Radio One with her etiquette advice column, Miss Conduct, in radio sketches she writes for CBC’s Comedy Factory, and as the host for the CBC Comedy Factory Podcast.
