Prairie Theatre Exchange realizes, as many parents and educators do, the importance of getting students excited about their learning. It’s one of the reasons we’ve been offering theatre classes, workshops and training for over 40 years.

Today, more than ever, theatre skills are critical for a young person’s development. Drama education has been shown to boost student’s academic performance in several ways, including improving behavior, improving self-esteem, and building the kind of creative skills that are required to excel in learning.

Theatre provides everyone an equal opportunity to be free and explore their own creativity and comfort level. There are no wrong answers to fear and no competition to fall short of, just the chance to try new things and discover something new about themselves.

Since no actor is an island, students learn to give and receive helpful feedback. This ability to work with others effectively is easily transferable to their school studies.

Drama in Every Classroom
Dramatic techniques can be used to enhance any subject. The new arts curriculum is being implemented in many schools and divisions with this very concept in mind. Discover ways to use creative drama as a teaching tool in your classroom. Give students another way in which to express themselves, explore topics they’re studying, and present what they’ve been learning.

Drama Workshops & Residencies
Drama workshops can be designed to enhance the activities of any classroom from early years through high school and beyond. Special workshops can be designed to enhance the activities of youth groups and community organizations.

Workshop topics may include, but are not limited to, acting, improvisation, musical theatre, filmmaking, Shakespeare, masks, playwriting, storytelling, puppetry, and theatre design, all of which can be tailored to support existing curriculum in almost any academic field of study.

Collaborative Drama Projects
For a more comprehensive program, consider our Original Collaborative Presentations. PTE School can work with you to create a course that’s specific to your goals, including an original theatre presentation, an on-going workshop series, or almost anything you can imagine.
