Young Company Presents LORD OF THE FLIES

William Golding’s

adapted for the stage by Nigel Williams

LOTF - Version 2

Directed by Erin McGrath

A group of schoolchildren, evacuated from a potential war situation, survive a catastrophic plane crash only to find themselves in a world where they believe there are no adults left alive. The game of survival begins.

William Golding’s first published novel, The Lord of the Flies, is a modern classic. Years later he said that writing the book was ‘like lamenting the lost childhood of the world’. This inspirational piece of theatre is true to the Golding’s vision and is still so relevant today. Our children find themselves frequenting a virtual world with no adults, full of cyber bullying where the results are often tragic. They can identify with this tale more than we’d like to acknowledge.
